House surgery

Since moving into our own home I have found a new joy in life. I've always been good with my hands and have been taught how to do a wide variety of things. I've helped my parents and brothers in the construction of two homes as well as painting and finishing them. I have unclogged toilets and put up shelves and fixed all sorts of things at many of the places I've worked. I have always been proud of my abilities and the knowledge behind them. But I have never had the joy and satisfaction of "renovating" my own home. (I use quotes because I really don't feel that I'm doing a true renovation but what I'm doing does fit the definition. Please don't think I'm trying to make it sound like more than it is) Every piece of linoleum tile I lay, every light fixture I put up, and every wall I finish painting gives me this glow that no other hobby or occupation has ever given. Home ownership looks good on me. Just look at what I did.

The new light fixture takes the place of the glass abomination in the background of one of my favorite photos ever. Once I get that back wall painted and everything put away I think it's going to look amazing in there.

I can't concentrate today because there's a great episode of Numbers on and Diva woke me up an extra hour early today so I'm only able to do three things at once. Have a fabulous weekend and I'll be posting more house photos soon.
